Forgiven and freed by God in Jesus Christ, and empowered by the Holy Spirit, we commit ourselves,
To nurture our faith through prayer and Bible study,
To support the mission of the church worldwide,
To work for peace and justice,
To build an inclusive, caring community of women that strengthens the Presbyterian Church and witnesses to the promise of God's Kingdom.
Every woman who attends Mid-Coast is a member of Presbyterian Women
Every woman is a part of this organization
that has truly shown the meaning of
"we are the body of Christ"
Presbyterian Women
are
STRENGTHENING FRIENDSHIPS
through a
"CHANCE TO CHAT"
Have
you ever wanted to get to know someone better at church but just haven’t had the
time or occasion to really talk? Have you had days when you wished
you knew someone well enough to share a problem or just “unload.”
The women on the Steering Committee of PW know they have felt that way from time to time…and have resolved to do something about it. PW provides on the third Wednesday of every month…a chance to chat. From 4:30 to 6:00 p.m. the women of MCPC are invited to come to the loft, have a cup of coffee/tea (maybe a cookie or two) and just talk…about the state of our world or the state of our waistlines. There will be no agenda, no “hurry up” to get on to something else…just a time to be together, to share and to allow friendships to grow.

Created Horizons, A monthly bible study, prayer chain, and
Presbyterian Women's worship service.
Organized "Thank" offering, least coin offering, mission to pledge to
PW PCUSA, gowns and bandages for African Hospitals, and blanket drive
though Church World Services
PW works to provide gifts to Family Crisis Shelter, Bright Start, Habitat for
Humanity, peace and justice seminars, support of CEOLI work in Bolivia and
coordinated aid in the remodeling of the Family Crisis Shelter
Women's Night Out, Women's Retreat, Christmas gathering, special surprise good-bye social functions.
2004 Charities and Fund Raising
Presbyterian Women have
two major fund raisers: the Holiday Fair and the Tag Sale. The funds from
the Tag Sale go to the mission pledge for PW PCUSA and for the general operating
expenses of PW. The profits from the Holiday Fair are divided in 80% for
the needs of the local congregation, and 20% to mission needs outside the
church.

Other giving included:
purchase of CEOLI cards to help disabled, disadvantaged teenagers in Bolivia
a new weed-eater and coat rack for the congregation
funds for Natasha to help with her mission trip to South Africa
providing cake and refreshments for the first baptismal celebrations at the Sudanese Fellowship of Portland
Funds provided to support the Bright Start Scholarship fund
donated funds to Habitat for Humanity
On-Going Charities and Fund Raising
Our church family, particularly newer members, need to be aware of yet another Mid-Coast mission that breathes encouragement and love into the lives of women and children, as well as staff, of the Family Crisis Center.

Overseas
Mission:
Continuing a Legacy
by Linda Pappin
Continuing the legacy of Jane Lester and others, PW recently send 33 hospital gowns and 689 rolled bandages to go to Malawi and Haiti.
Thank you to all of the nimble fingers that assisted with this vital mission project.
Running
out of high quality note paper?
by Shirley Reese
Are you writing more thank you notes and
enjoying it less? Need a unique hostess gift? For the teacher? A
thank you for a job especially well done?
Shirley Reese will continue to sell the handsome note cards that were first introduced at the Alternative Gift Market in December. There are several scenes in stunning colors, printed on high quality paper. Money received goes to support CEOLI, the Center for Educational and Vocational Preparation for the Disabled in Bolivia. This is the poorest country in South America.
CEOLI cares for nearly 150 children and young adults in the Cochabama area. Its mission is to provide services and opportunities for improved quality of life that the Bolivian government has this far failed to offer. CEOLI is a non-profit organization that relies on private donations and minimal payment from affected families. It is through Shirley Reese's sister, who volunteered with CEOLI last year, that PW has the privilege of participating in this project.
We can make a difference in the lives of handicapped children when we purchase these unique and exceptionally high-quality cards.
For more information contact Shirley Reese, 833-5415.
